Couple of pics

Feeling a little frisky tonight, so thought I'd post a couple of mirror shots!

Le Codon Bleu Is Closing.

Back in 2010.

What da fuq?

All schools will be closing throughout the US.  The company got busted for quite a few things, including to lying about job placement rates for graduates, among other things.

Many students will be able to get their loans forgiven and I believe to recoup money they've already spent on tuition.

I lost the link to the article, but here's how fucked up out tax system is.

If you had, say, $72,000 in student loans, for instance, and it was forgiven, I believe if you already had gone through the school, you will owe the IRS something like 22,000 in taxes on that.

I swear, really?  I know that if you get that money forgiven, it's considered income, but how is someone supposed to raise the money to pay that off by next tax season?

C'mon, Congress and IRS.  You'll get your money but give these people a break.  Let them pay that off without penalty and interest over five years.

Don't fool yourselves.  Elected officials do not care about their citizens in this country.  They'll pander to selected groups, but they don't care.

Me.....I'm okay.  My 15-month program ran me 20 grand, but I offset a huge chunk of that with my college savings from my parents.  When they got married, they started saving for the kids' education.  And they had six kids when all was said and done.  We all got help due to their saving.

Thank you Mom and Dad!  You are awesome!

The rest I paid for with savings and a small loan that I paid off in just a couple of years.  I'm free and clear.

But it pisses me off that Bleu has copped to a lot of the accusations!  I mean, not that they came clean, but that they engaged in unethical conduct!

Now people will have to search for new programs, get new loans, clear up the old loans, and find new training!  It's a bad situation!

My one selfish concern is that the diploma itself will be a bit devalued.  That sucks.  I'm pretty established, but it still frustrates me!

I laid out 20, put off getting a house, used up my parents' contribution and drained my savings and then busted my ass paying off the loan I took out.....for  a diploma that now has a taint to it?

Oh well.....
